Workshops

Thank you for signing up!

Workshops are an exciting and engaging way to become involved in the handcrafting process. Your Workshop runs for the times posted and you MUST pre-register.  If you are unable to finish your project in the time allotted in the Ring Workshop, additional time may be purchased at a rate of $10 per hour.

For your safety: Due to age and liability limitations, the RING workshops are for ages 13 and over, WELDING is 15 and over. You will probably get “just a little” dirty, it is for this reason we ask that you dress appropriately.  Natural fiber clothing (cotton, linen, wool) are preferred and closed-toe shoes are required.  All of the required safety gear will be provided, including eye, ear and hand protection as necessary.  If you have your own that you prefer, feel free to bring it.

Workshops are first come, first serve and will be based upon receipt of the completed Workshop Registration Form here.

Release Statement

Due to the large number of participants, this will be the ONLY way to sign up for a workshop.  Once we receive your registration form, you will receive an email confirmation. If you Cancel less than 48 hours before the workshop you forfeit your coupon. Please plan accordingly. There are a lot of people taking these workshops.

Intro to Oxy-Acetylene
Brief taste of oxy-acetylene welding and cutting, familiarize yourself with the tanks, practice your welds and cut metal with a torch. 3 hr workshop

Oxy-fuel is one of the oldest welding processes, though in recent years it has become less popular in industrial applications. However, it is still widely used for welding pipes and tubes, as well as repair work. It is also frequently well-suited, and favored, for fabricating some types of metal-based artwork.

Intro to Stick

Learn the basics of Stick welding, how the machine works and practice your welds. 3 hr workshop One of the most common types of arc welding is shielded metal arc welding (SMAW); it is also known as manual metal arc welding (MMA) or stick welding. Electric current is used to strike an arc between the base material and consumable electrode rod, which is made of steel and is covered with a flux that protects the weld area from oxidation and contamination by producing carbon dioxide (CO2) gas during the welding process. The electrode core itself acts as filler material, making a separate filler unnecessary

Intro to MIG
A quick overview of welding, practice your welds and learn how the machine works. 3 hr workshop

Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), also known as metal inert gas or MIG welding, is a semi-automatic or automatic process that uses a continuous wire feed as an electrode and an inert or semi-inert gas mixture to protect the weld from contamination. Since the electrode is continuous, welding speeds are greater for GMAW than for SMAW.

Weld-a-Creature Workshop
Learn the basics of MIG welding while welding together pre-cut metal pieces to form a robot, dog, or other creature of your choice. No welding experience is necessary.

Make A Ring 1 Day Workshop
